I come from a family of teachers so the inevitable choice of profession for me was education. I obtained my Higher Diploma in Junior Remedial Education at Denneoord Teachers’ College, Stellenbosch at the end of 1980. I have always been passionate about every child being literate and able to enjoy Mathematics but my passion did not extend to working within the constraints of State education. I have spent my professional working life in NGOs, Universities and 13 years with a private Education Trust

When my son started school in 1992, I studied part-time at the University of Port Elizabeth and obtained by BA degree with majors in Psychology and Sociology. I continued with an Honours degree in Psychology at Rhodes University (East London) and then a Masters Degree in Educational Administration, Planning and Social Policy from UCT in 2002.

I am a dynamic, highly experienced facilitator and always work towards getting individuals to the point where they realise they are confidently thinking and doing new things for and by themselves. I believe that I have the ability to facilitate learning at any level. Although I am an independent and analytical thinker, I firmly believe that every individual brings assets to learning situations and that we learn best from each other when we are able to appreciate the contribution the other brings.

I was born in Paarl on 29 May, 1993 and grew up in a small community just north of Franschhoek called GroendalI. Growing up I have always aimed towardsinspiring, motivating and giving back to my community. I matriculated at Groendal Secondary in the year of 2010 where after I studied at Boland College in Paarl and completed my National Diploma in Management Assistant.

My passion is the people of our Valley, to see how the children, youth and their families develop in a positive way and succeed in life. I believe we can greatly impact the transformation in this valley through education. I don’t want to look back in 5 years time and think “I could’ve done more, but I was afraid. No,in 5 years’time I want to tell a tale of how fear tried to cheat me out of the best things in life and I didn’t let it”. I am a youth of Franschhoek and I want to make a change.
